 skip HIRE in North Essex


Naturally, certain terms and conditions apply when you rent a skip with Colne Skips. These help us to comply with important standards in health and safety, waste management and council permission, all of which allow us to perform reliably and effectively. These terms are the same across all areas of North Essex that we serve, including:

  • Halstead

  • Sudbury

The Hire of the Skip:

Tey Skips Ltd will provide a skip of good condition and fit for its purpose to the customer (hereafter ‘You’).

The Skip remains the property of Tey Skips Ltd trading as Colne Skips. (hereafter ‘We, Us’).

Payment will be on booking by credit/debit card or cash/cheque on delivery. Skips will not be delivered without payment.

The normal period of hire is seven days including a Saturday and Sunday. Thereafter, is a weekly hire charge which will be collected prior to collection.

Collection of the skip is by arrangement from you to Tey Skips Ltd.

Skips required to be on Highways.

Permits will be required from an appropriate County Council, which we will obtain. Permits require seven days upon booking and incur an extra charge on top of the skip hire charge. We will provide two marker cones and two skip lights for you to display on and around the hours of darkness as required by the Highways Act 1971.

You will undertake to fill the skip within the period of the seven day permit, and inform us in good time of its readiness for collection. If the skips is required for a longer period of time another council permit will be required at additional cost.

Any skips with a highway permit must NOT be moved from the permit area.

All other Hire conditions apply.

Delivery, Placement and Collection of the Skip.

You will undertake to direct at your sole discretion where the driver is to place the skip.

There should be a clear pathway from cars, buildings, boundaries, overhanging trees/shrubs, overhanging telephone or other utility wires in which the driver can access placement.

If you direct a skip vehicle to leave the public highway you shall fully indemnify us in respect of any loss, costs, claims, damages or expenses we may thereby sustain whether as a result of personal injury or as a result of damage to the vehicle itself or the property of the hirer or third parties.

You shall not remove or move the skip from the site to which it has been delivered unless prior consent has be obtained from us.
Please contact us when the skip is ready for collection before the seven day hire period ceases.

Filling the Skip.

All contents must be well contained in the skip walls. No boarded sides will be accepted. We will only accept LEVEL LOADS. It is your duty to make sure the contents are within the boundaries of the skip and safe for collection.

Under no circumstance may fires be lit in the skip, this will cause damage and charges will be incurred.

Items not allowed.

Waste material that is of such nature that the regulations issued by the secretary of state under the Deposit of Poisonous Waste Act 1972 and Pollution Act 1974 is in force on the date of the removal of each loaded skip, except the waste material being removed from the provisions of the Acts.

Under no circumstances can we accept Asbestos or Plasterboard.

Any substance such as Paints, Solvents, Liquids of any kind, Ash, radioactive or toxic materials or waste that has the potential to harm Human, animal or aquatic life are not permitted.

Fridges, Freezers, Mattresses, Car batteries, or tyres are not permitted. But can be removed for an additional cost.

If any of these items are found within the skips they will be returned to you and additional cost will be incurred.
